Today doors opened to H&M’s new flagship store, which encompasses the H&M Home range in addition to its traditional Men, Women, Kids, and Baby sections.

H&M Australia and New Zealand take great care in choosing their store locations, and Country Manager Hans Andersson was pleased with their choice. “In my opinion, this spot is one of the best in Auckland and the Commercial Bay development is a fantastic one,” he stated. “It’s great to see that customers seem to agree”. He expects the store to be the best performing, highest-frequented store due to the sheer amount of foot traffic in the area.

More than seven hundred customers were outside waiting for the official open. Many had been there since before 8 am, when the H&M staff emerged to perform an iconic team dance. Andersson cut the ribbon and greeted customers at 10 am, alongside New Zealand Sales Manager Daniel Lattemann and Store Manager Mino Kim.

The excited crowd were welcomed by DJs and the 120-strong staff performing an iconic dance. Printed selfie stations were also on-hand for attendees to record their experience.

First Retail Group managing director Chris Wilkinson said he hoped the store would revive shopping in downtown Auckland. "The store opening is an important step in re-engaging consumers with that corner - which has in the past been a busy and successful retail destination," Wilkinson said.

The store covers 3,500 square metres over four levels. It’s located at the corner of Customs Street and Queen Street, in downtown Auckland Central.
