How to Use a RAT

It is important to know how to correctly use Rapid Antigen Tests in order to get an accurate result. Test instructions vary depending on the brand. Many follow the instructions below, but not all. Please follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Reading the Results

Negative

One line next to C indicates the test is negative.

Positive

Two lines, one next to C and one next to T (even faint lines) indicate the test is positive.

Invalid Result

No line next to C indicates the test is invalid. With an invalid result you should retest. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines on how long you wait.

Reporting Your Result

You need to report your result, this can be done on your My Covid Record. Alternatively you can call 0800 222 478 and press option 3.
