iD Dunedin Emerging Designer: Yasmin Jade Fraser

Porodica, which means family in Serbia, is the name of Yasmin Jade Fraser’s collection. With five pieces, this is all about Fraser’s family story of migrating to Australia.

Using heirlooms, such as her baby blanket, Fraser transformed a dress full of old family clothes and curtains to create a modern-day piece.

Fraser designed the prints herself and executed them on the fabric too.

“Many of my community is the queer community, and many of my friends are transgender models, so my label doesn’t have a gender type; it’s inclusive diversity," Fraser said confidently.

This is Fraser’s second time in Dunedin fashion week, and she aims to continue learning,

“In ten years, I would love to have a little studio in Milan and go back and forth between Sydney and Milan,” said Fraser, who is partially Italian yet is undiscovered.
