Instagram has launched a new feature in New Zealand that will help users find local, trending businesses. Perfect for Aucklanders who are looking to #supportlocal during Level 3 lockdown. Those in other parts of the country can also use the feature to find their new favourite retailer that they can visit while following lockdown level 2 guidance.
Users can find Map Search on the Instagram app using the new icon in the top right corner of the ‘Explore’ tab or when searching for hashtags, i.e. #takeaway will show you nearby restaurants offering takeaway food.
Businesses can take advantage of the feature by encouraging their customers to ‘check in’ to their business on any Instagram post. Doing so will give them precedence on Map Search.
