Accessory designers and long-time friends Boh Runga and Kathryn Wilson have collaborated on a pendant as a celebration of friendship and femininity on International Women’s Day.
The collaborative pendant references a Kathryn Wilson best-seller, 'The Lola Heel', named after Kathryn’s eldest daughter. The heel is now replicated in sterling silver with a gold-dipped toe and optional sweetheart charm - a Runga signature design that can now be personalised.
"A great pair of heels is like a great friendship... uplifting and empowering. Lola reminds us that women can be strong in their femininity. That when they share their experiences and knowledge with each other, we all grow," said Runga.
Runga and Wilson see the Lola pendant as a modern-day homage to the friendship necklace and hope it will be a symbol of strength and aroha for the women who wear it.
"It is a sweet, timeless piece to be shared with girlfriends, mothers and daughters for years to come," said Wilson.
Honouring the bond of women in business the pair’s approach to fashion, business and friendship have always been collaborative, never competitive. Over the years the pair have joined forces in charity and business, and Runga even sang Wilson up the aisle at her wedding. Runga also designed Wilson's wedding band and Wilson has named a shoe after Runga. Their co-mentor relationship adds a layer of mutual admiration and respect to their rich friendship.
"One of the keys to our individual successes has been friendship and mutual mentorship," said Wilson.
To honour the values embodied by the creation of the Lola pendant, Wilson and Runga will be offering all customers who purchase the Lola pendant between March 1st and May 30th 2021 the chance to win a half-day session of business mentoring.
Customers can use the prize for themselves or gift it to a female business person who has a company under five years old.
The Lola Pendant is part of Boh Runga’s ‘Bohlab’ series where she collaborates with other respected designers, brands and public figures.
