LYCRA and HeiQ Announce New Cotton Fabric Technology

Leading textile innovation companies, The LYCRA company and HeiQ, have collaborated to launch their LYCRA naturalFX technology. This new textile finishing process enhances the stretch and durability of cotton knitwear.

In comparison to conventional finishes, LYCRA naturalFX technology helps cotton woven fabrics to retain its shape even with repeated wash and wear, making it a long-lasting and sustainable garment.

Chief commercial officer at LYCRA, Nicolas Banyols, stated that the breakthrough innovation is also easy for mills to implement because it requires no investment in new equipment.

All cotton-woven fabric that utilises LYCRA naturalFX technology can be sent to LYCRA's laboratories for quality control testing, ensuring that its comfort stretch, durable fit and breathability qualities can be provided for consumers. Customisable co-branded POS materials displaying the tagline “In Sync with Nature’s Rhythm” will also be available for brands and retailers that stock products made with the new technology.

Although LYCRA is heading the commercialisation of this technology, HeiQ’s Head of Business Unit Textiles Mike Mordente said that they will support this process by manufacturing and selling the finishing process to textile mills.

“I am confident that LYCRA naturalFX technology will open up a new generation of enhanced stretch and recovery garments with comfort and durability.”
