On the first Monday in May, the annual Met Gala is held at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year's Gala dress code is “Gilded Glamour” taking inspiration from the Costume Institute’s exhibition, In America: An Anthology of Fashion.
All guests are asked to dress to “embody the grandeur—and perhaps the dichotomy—of Gilded Age New York,” a period of history spanning from 1870 to 1890.
This year's theme was chosen in honour of American contributions to fashion. Head curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, Andrew Bolton, told Vogue: “The stories really reflect the evolution of American style, but they also explore the work of individual tailors, dress-makers, and designers.”
The official co-chairs for 2022 are Regina King, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
