MOSCOT Celebrates 110 Years

MOSCOT unfolds a new chapter in its storied history this season.

The New York City institution renowned for its iconic eyewear invites customers to step inside the creative studio of Zack Moscot, the family’s fifth generation and brand’s first Chief Design Officer, celebrating 110 years of expertise and unparalleled craftsmanship.

From his drawing board, Moscot delves into the family archives, where decades of classic styles await reimagining. Detailed sketches that progress to precise digital drawings capture every detail from hardware to colour.

Under his supervision, premium materials are shaped and refined through multiple iterations to meet high design, ergonomic, and quality standards. Collaborating with his father, Dr. Harvey Moscot, they ensure each frame merges fashion with optimal functionality.

The final step: every piece is meticulously finished and marked with the iconic pushcart logo, a tribute to MOSCOT's humble roots and enduring legacy and the city that inspired it.

“When I first started working at the Shop as a young boy, I was so intrigued by how a pair of glasses could change how one looked or felt about themselves,” said Zack Moscot.

“Seeing that, I knew I had a unique way to enter the business – not as an optician or optometrist, but as a trained designer, I could channel my creative energy and emotionally connect with our customers through meaningful product design.”

This collection has introduced five new eye-cons—intertwined stories of MOSCOT and New York City’s rich history: the KUGEL, the MEKLER, the MINGLE, the SCOOCH, and the SHMOOZ.

While now recognised as a fashion brand with Shops around the world, MOSCOT remains, at heart, a neighbourhood optical Shop.
