New Shopping Platform For Kiwi-owned Businesses

Online shopping platform for Kiwi-owned businesses, Buy Kiwi, has officially launched.

Connecting New Zealanders to Kiwi businesses, the shopping platform aims to grow the national economy by making it easier to purchase local.

Their ready-to-use e-commerce platform allows all businesses with at least 80 percent Kiwi ownership to access a wide market, increasing their reach and continuing to focus on what they love.

Buy Kiwi's growing range of products range from cosmetics, books, toys, homewares, hardware and fishing gear, with more being added everyday.

More than 7,000 shoppers have already registered.

"If we can get more Kiwis supporting Kiwi-owned businesses, we will be able to keep more money in the country, retain and create more jobs and, by extension, help local communities,” says Managing Director of Buy Kiwi, Jamie Farmer.

“If every Kiwi diverted just $50 per week spent with overseas companies to New Zealand-owned business, it would deliver $250 million per week back into the local economy.”

Any business in an area impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle is eligible to join Buy Kiwi for free for the next year.

"Our intention with Buy Kiwi is to help keep money in the New Zealand economy to help Kiwi-owned businesses, jobs, and the economy grow and thrive," concluded Farmer.
