From February 2023, any small retail business with street frontage can apply for a $4,000 subsidy to install fog cannons. Businesses must also have no more than two outlets, five or fewer paid employees, and sell finished goods to the public.
The subsidy can only be used for fog cannons and is for each outlet. So if you own two outlets, you receive $4,000 for each location. The business owner and the fog cannon provider are responsible for negotiating final prices and organising installation.
Retailers can complete the expression of interest form here or visit MBIE’s Business website for more information. Owners will be asked to provide their name, email, business name, address, number of paid employees and NZBN.
Businesses that complete the expression of interest form will be notified when the final application goes live.
