Transforming Imagination Into Motion for Adventurers

Nike x One Piece Transforming Imagination Into Motion for Adventurers

The influence of One Piece has long been felt throughout the global world of sport, inspiring athlete performances and celebrations in competition.

Nike has now brought the One Piece spirit into the real world, showing how sport can be a canvas for creativity, self-expression and imagination.

The collection includes Air Max Plus silhouettes, jerseys, T-shirts, and caps, drawing inspiration from and reimagining the legendary Devil Fruits from the One Piece manga.

“We were inspired by the superhuman abilities that are unleashed when One Piece characters eat the Devil Fruits, much like the feeling an athlete has when they put on a pair of Nikes,” said Nick Remlinger, GM, Energy Gaming, Nike.

“We then started reimagining the beloved Air Max Plus in a way that fans of the silhouette have never seen before. As we bring this collection to life, there are even more surprises coming, just like any great adventure.”

The Gomu Gomu no Mi, Ope Ope no Mi, and Mera Mera no Mi fruits inform the three designs and colours of each Air Max Plus silhouette, which feature completely retooled uppers exclusive to the collection. Each shoe is complemented by Air Max Plus jerseys and caps drawn from the Nike archive.

The collection also includes T-shirts featuring a design inspired by the Jolly Roger, drawn as “a mark of a promise” by the series’ protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy himself, as well as manga illustrations reimagined in the style of classic Nike ads.

It also includes a vest inspired by the effects of the Devil Fruits, which are said to make those who eat them “hated by the sea” and unable to swim.

The Nike x One Piece collection will launch globally on the 25th of September.
