Designer Focus: Rose Keys, Lania the Label

Rose Keys said that her love of fabrics and textures from a young age was the start of her journey into fashion, leading her to become the design manager of Lania the Label.

Immersed in the fashion industry and all it has to offer, Keys said that designing is an accumulation of many different elements.

“My life involves some form of fashion, looking for a new surprise, travel, friends, and working with a great team and suppliers,” said Keys.

From the beginning, Lania was created with the customer in mind. Combining natural fibres and comfort, Keys creates garments that provide both style and function.

Her inspiration for her designs stems from the fabrics and textiles she collects, which ultimately lead her to start a collection. Keys is inspired by everything, from the environment or even a change in weather.

She also takes the suggestions of her customers and retailers seriously, using their feedback to shape future collections.

Her best tip for designing collections is to keep an eye on the latest trends and build on information that has been presented.

"Follow monthly deadlines and always be early."

Passion is the biggest driver for her craft, and said that young designers should absorb everything the industry has to offer.

“Always be brave to give your ideas, if only one idea is accepted, it is a start.”

Keys is proud of her achievements in fashion, and said that it is a thrill to work in an ever-changing industry.

Supporting new designers is something she aims to do more of in the future.

"Today, the industry has more challenges. If I can use my experience and contacts to help, I feel I am giving back to the great opportunities I had in my career."

She advises anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry to build strong connections in the industry.

"Create great relationships with your retailers, customers and suppliers, they are all the success of your business."
