Georgia James was scouted at the age of 15 by Christoph, an international photographer from Designer Kolletiv in Holland. During a shoot he was doing in New Zealand, Christoph had a meal at the Thai restaurant where James works part-time. He immediately recognised her potential. “He told me I should model and sent my details through to Kelly from NZ Models & Talent.” James had also been scouted a year earlier while shopping at Garden City in Perth on holiday. However, the scout had wanted to fly her to Sydney and her parents had felt she was too young. Being scouted twice gave her the confidence she needed to pursue modeling. James has been in the industry for a year now. Casting for New Zealand Fashion Week tested her mettle, but she kept good control of her nerves. Her greatest achievement has been modeling at New Zealand Fashion Week.

georgia16_048After her first photoshoot, James realized this is what she wanted to be. She does drama at school, so she finds it exciting to be able to express herself in so many different ways. Every client in the fashion industry wants a different modeling style, and James loves the challenge. She enjoys learning new skills. The young model is inspired by meeting so many different people, including other models and all the people who work behind the scenes. Her inspiration is homegrown too, as James has always looked up to her older sister Bella. This is thanks to her sister’s impressive work ethic, determination and never-give-up attitude.

Even though she is still at school, outside of modelling James wants to open a top end café or eatery in the future. However, she envisions a bright future for her modeling career.

“My agent and I have plans for some exciting photo shoots coming into the summer season, and my goal is to enter the International market when I am ready,” James enthused. She would love to model for big brands like Calvin Klein, and become highly successful in the industry.

James advises other new faces to be careful what agent or modeling agency they sign with. “You are young and need to be looked after and be portrayed appropriately. Also be natural, you cannot force it. If it is meant to be it will be.”
