iD Dunedin Emerging Designer: Anaclara Lijó Losinno

Situated in an uncertain post-apocalyptic future, Anaclara Lijó Losinno’s collection focuses on explorers finding their way through a futuristic world with retro tones.

The pieces have flowers indicating the possibility of their existence or at least the adventurous nature of the piece's intention to find flowers.

Using an experimental colour palette, purple reflects the sky in winter with the soft warmth and slight cold. Following this theme, the dark colours of blue and black are consistent with this, and then the use of orange is an element to create contrast.

The experimentation with different colours was challenging for Losinno. The alteration and combination of flowers on the thinner fabrics and layering larger pieces was not feasible to make them hold themselves up.

“At the end of the day, we decided to layer them rather than stack them and use starch fabrics to make them more transparent. It was a challenging process,” said Losinno.

Losinno thoroughly enjoyed attempting to create a blend of an apocalyptic world that is gruelling while integrating that with feminine beauty to create an abstract narrative.
