With David Jones set to open in on July 28, retail leasing demand has grown at an unprecedented rate, including the reintroduction of R.M. Williams to the New Zealand market. The new store can be found on the corner of Wellington's Willis and Mercer streets, and is set to benefit from the increased foot traffic once David Jones opens its doors.
"New Zealand and Wellington are as important for us as London and New York. The way we look at it is New Zealand is a country that is one of the leaders of the world. Your consumers are global - many people from around the world come to New Zealand," said Raju Vuppalapati, chief executive, R.M. Williams.
However, the expansion into the New Zealand market does not stop in Wellington, with the company set to open a store on Auckland's Queen Street in the coming month, alongside its continued growth in both New York and London.
R.M. Williams is majority owned by L Capital Asia group, the private equity fund sponsored by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy alongside celebrity shareholder Hugh Jackman and an Australian pension fund.
