Tikiteboo is an all-new online thrift store operated and owned by Kiwis. The store offers high-quality fashion items for women, men, and teenagers, from workwear, vintage, casual, party, and streetwear to Y2K, festivals, and concert tees.
Initially, the store focused on thrifted fashion items; however, it plans to add deadstock fashion items from previous seasons, seconds, and samples for NZ and AUS brands.
Every individual has unique needs and preferences, and the store encourages everyone to create their distinct style and wear it with confidence, aka "creating their code of cool."
The fashion industry generates a significant amount of textile waste each year, and Tikiteboo aims to help reduce this issue by giving garments another chance to shine.
Karrina and Bella-Rose Mountfort, a dynamic mother-daughter duo, founded Tikiteboo in early 2023 to revolutionise how people think about fashion consumption. The brand was launched through its first market event held in September 2023 at the Jubilee Hall in Parnell.
The store's name, Tikiteboo, has a more profound meaning besides being catchy and memorable. It is a reference to the founders' Kiwi roots and mana.
At Tikiteboo, vendors are personally taught and guided on digital how-tos, including Stripe and Canva, and equipped with basic website knowledge to help them learn digital skills and become entrepreneurs. Every vendor joining the Tikiteboo platform undergoes initial vetting and training.
The platform has also launched Tikiteen, a transformative community initiative dedicated to providing outfits for teens and young people embarking on their educational and professional journeys but may need access to appropriate clothing.
The Tikiteboo team organises and collects donated workwear through bins left at participating companies and organisations. They then collate the items, check everything to ensure they are top-notch, group them in size, and work with the association to deliver them to the recipients.
The store also plans to organise in-person events at their office in Parnell and online events for those out of town to upskill, partner features, and other opportunities to connect their growing circular fashion community.
