Portuguese Shoes New Dancing Ambassador

Marcelino Sambé

New Portuguese shoe campaigns starred the Portuguese dancer Marcelino Sambé as its newest ambassador. Portuguese Shoes touched on individuality in its latest campaign, showcasing the journeys and transformations people undergo from all walks of life.

“Shoes are my basis,” said Sambé. “Shoes are very important to me; they are one of my biggest tools. They represent my health as a dancer.”

Working on one of the most demanding stages in the world, the Royal Ballet House in London, Sambé emphasised the importance of footwear, laying the foundation for his performances. Awarded the Personality of the Year and the Martha de la Cal prize by the Foreign Press Association in Portugal, Sambé is humbled by the award that allows him to achieve so much by just “doing what I do.”

Styled by Fernando Bastos Pereira and choreographed by Daniel Gorjão, the new campaign is an initiative of the Bioshoes4all project – supported by the Programme for Recovery and Resilience.

The footwear industry has commemorated the arts culture for 13 years, where Portuguese footwear exportation increased by 67 percent during that time. Following Portuguese Shoes paying tribute to its own culture with an artistic recreation of eight famous Portuguese paintings in 2022, the company is thrilled to give to the creature industry again this year.

“The footwear sector is very proud of its recent achievements but is already setting in motion a new decade of growth,” said Paulo Gonçalves, director of Communication of APICCAPS. “After two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is time for the Portuguese footwear industry to return in strength to international markets.”
