Sephora Appoints Guillaume Motte as Next CEO

Major beauty retailer Sephora has named Guillaume Motte as the company's new President and CEO.

Replacing Chris de Lapuente, who took over the post when Martin Brok stepped down from the role in June 2022, Motte will officially begin in his duties in January.

De Lapuente stated that "his experiences over the last two years in LVMH Fashion Group, alongside Sidney Toledano, have broadened his prestige brand building expertise and deepened his already extensive retail and business skills at a global level".

Motte has worked nearly five years at Sephora's parent company the LVMH Fashion Group. He is currently the deputy CEO of one of its operating divisions. Previously, Motte was the CEO and president of Sephora's Europe and Middle East division.

In conjunction to his experience at LVMH, Motte held leadership roles at the French menswear retailer Celio and the Middle Eastern retail conglomerate Al Tayer group, which runs retail operations in the region on behalf of brands like Gap and Bobbi Brown.

Sephora's appointment of Motte coincides with the retailer's expansion plans, designed to maintain its prominence in the U.S and international beauty market.

Looking forward, Sephora will continue to expand its shop-in-shop partnership with Kohl's, enhance its loyalty programme and expand its delivery service through a partnership with DoorDash that will enable one-hour and same-day delivery for its products.
