Multinational retailer Topshop are delving head first into sustainable fashion with the launch of their first ever 100 percent vegan footwear range. The move comes as a bid to engage the growing vegan market, which has only increased in the past few years.
The range utilises materials free of animal products and are handmade in Spain. They include six new styles each with two unique colour variations. The range, according to Topshop’s fashion director Maddy Evans, is the first compartment of the brand’s move to launch a fully cruelty-free accessory line. The collection encompasses the same spring vibe as their previous releases, with chunky flats, snake routs and block-heeled sandals being the standout designs from the range. The line has also been endorsed by animal welfare group PETA, giving Topshop’s new collection great credibility.
According to data from Edited, a retail technology company, there has been a 52 percent increase in the sale of vegan products in the first half of 2019 alone. Topshop’s launch of their vegan footwear signals their intention to jump onto this trend.
