In a year that seems to be ever-changing, we can always count on RUBY to be true to form with its Resort collection.
For Resort 2020, Creative Director Deanna Didovich presents tides. tides is a vibrant collection, full of stand-out prints, playful silhouettes and uplifting colours. All the makings of a carefree season soaked into a wardrobe fit for an unforgettable summer.
This year has been ruled by restrictions and tides is the dreamy opposite. The tide reflects our human emotions, we yearn for the perpetual high tide, a full day of swimming and an abundance of the ocean – but we wouldn’t know what a high tide truly felt like if we never experience a low tide. Tides will come in and go out, much like our emotions, and they will continue to change over and over again.
"tides is a reflection of my emotions, the ebb and flow of waves inspired me. I have felt confined and overwhelmed with change in 2020, which are feelings I am sure others can relate to too. tides is a nod to that," explained Didovich.
"Resort is a pivotal collection of our year; it’s us ending the year on the best note possible. I wanted tides to feel free, nostalgic and sentimental. It’s all about silhouettes that accentuate the body’s natural curves and colours that are charming and optimistic."
Opening the collection, the Portia story has a new, retro outlook to help you shine. As a nod to the 70s, the ocean blue and earthy brown zig zag print is imagined in a GOTS-certified cotton wide leg pant, with matching shirt, and bandeau dress.
The Cruise Linen Bow Dress in mango and chocolate is a freeing silhouette that takes you from day to night with ease. Three-piece galore, the tides suit in juicy papaya will slot in nicely as the tailored option in your summer wardrobe. The Waves story in a blue marle knit will be the new summer essential; the cardigan, long sleeve top or midi skirt are textured accents to any outfit.
tides is attuned to the season’s heat, with durable linens, light-weight cotton pieces and breathable materials that will help you unwind without feeling undone.
RUBY Swim also returns for a second dip. This year features the collection’s iconic prints, alongside pops of azure, ginger, and an uncomplicated black. Made in a RUBY favourite, ECONYL regenerated nylon, a fabric created from recycled fishing nets and nylon waste. A tortoise ring details an asymmetrical top, pant, and scoop-neck one piece. These sleek pieces are essential for your time in the sun.
